During late September and the entire month of October, Camino celebrates the fruits of the harvest with the famous Apple Hill Season. Children and adults love to visit the various ranches for sumptuous desserts such as Dutch Apple Cream Pie. There are numerous fun activities for kids such as choo choo train rides, pony rides and apple cider tastings. Visit Apple Hill midweek to avoid the weekend crowds. After your fun day at the ranches, plan on having dinner at the Forester (believe me, you will be ready for some real food after all the pies and pastries you eat during the day). Visit the following link for descriptions of the different Apple Hill Ranches, hours of operation, driving directions, etc.: www.applehill.com

Do you enjoy sampling microbrews? Jack Russell Brewing Company, located just 1 1/2 miles from the Forester Pub & Grill offers an outstanding selection of superbly crafted lagers, ales and stouts brewed in the English tradition. Relax in their cozy tasting room or soak up some rays in their large and sunny picnic area. This is a great place for families, as there is ample room for the kids to run around and play while the parents enjoy a cold one. Bring your family dog and frisbee too, if you so desire. The brewery also puts on some great concerts and events such as Guy Fawkes Day, at which they build and enormous bonfire and burn Guy Fawkes in effigy. Don't forget that the Forester Pub & Grill features a large selection of Jack Russell brews on tap. Fore more information, visit their website at:

Enjoy a little wine tasting? The Apple Hill area surrounding Camino has some outstanding wineries rivaling the best of Napa/Sonoma/Mendocino. El Dorado County wineries are noted primarily for their excellent zinfandels, but in recent years experimentation with numerous varietals has revealed that the exceptional microclimates are incredibly well suited to barbera, syrah, malbec, merlot, cabernet, grenache, alicante bourschet, carignane, pinotage, charbonno, viognier, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc and even pinot noir! Within a five mile radius of the Forester Pub & Grill there are ten world class wineries, so plan on winetasting during the day and coming to the Forester for dinner to cap an extremely enjoyable day. Chances are the Forester will be pouring the wines you sampled at the wineries. Wine tasting in El Dorado County is relaxing, unhurried, usually free, and best of all, generally the owners and winemakers are there to pour your wine and answer your questions. Avoid the crowds and expense of Napa. For more information, visit the following website: www.eldoradowines.org
